Hello 2014

A new year, a new start, a new beginning.

We got to spend the day together, which was nice. No plans, no agenda, just good, football, cleaning, and naps (all in big-kid beds!). Charley "helped" me with dinner, as she does most days, and while I have to admit it makes things take longer (especially when she repeatedly touches raw chicken), I really do enjoy it.

Today was a very good start to what I hope will be a great year.

Day 28

Today I am thankful for our little family. The three (and a half!) of us are a little unit, and while it can be hard to be far from family, and it can be hard when Daddy has to work on a holiday, I know that right now we're where we're meant to be, because we are together.

Day 27

Today (again) I am thankful that I have the job I do. I got to take Charley in to work to help decorate the office, then take her to daycare so she could have fun at her Thanksgiving party, and then we got sent home because of snow. So now I get to wrap presents and do crafts.

Best. Day. Ever. Wait, lies. It would be better if Keith weren't working.

Day 26

Today I am thankful for a weather delay! I got to spend an extra 40 minutes with my favorite little girl (who was redic cute today BTW) and it was great. The only thing that would have made it better was if I made waffles. 

Day 25

I am thankful of the means I have. I can get a note that says Charley needs wipes and run to Target (in my warm coat, with my gloves in, in my car) and just buy them without having to think about it, or budget for it, or plan around it. 

Day 24

Today I am thankful we figured out a way to get all our Christmas stuff up. We don't have a tin if space right now, but we moved stuff around and made it work, and it's gorgeous. Plus, Charley loves it, which makes it that much better!

Day 23

Today I am redicilously thankful I don't work retail. The holiday traffic is picking up, and when I mentioned it being busy at Michael's today the poor girl said sorry. Then I felt terrible, because I didn't mean it in a bad way at all, I was just honestly surprised that it had already started and I hadn't realized it. But then I remembered what it was like to be out there and having to deal with the crazies and the people looking for deals and stressing out, and I am so happy I don't have to deal with it anymore!

November 22

Today I am thankful that it. is. FRIDAY!

Day 21

I am thankful for the time spent saying Charley's nighttime prayers. Sometimes she fusses and/or plays around not paying attention, BUT slowly but surely, she's understanding it. She can fill in almost any word in the Lord's Prayer, and she can list the people she wants to say prayers for (and although Mommy, Daddy, Hershey and Charley don't change, the rest of them she likes to mix up). And seriously? The way she says "the fath-a, son, and spi-yit ayyyyymen" is the cutest thing I have ever heard.

Day 20

Today I'm thankful that you don't just give babies cold medicine. It taught me these bangin ways to deal with a cold med free, which is great since I can't take anything. Closing myself in a steamy bathroom, saline nose wipes, breathe right strips, and hot tea (okay those last two aren't for babies, but they help!)

Day 19

Today I am thankful my baby girl is so easy. I feel like crap and Daddy is working, and when it was time for bed she gave me a hug and a kiss, and when I layed her down she smiled and waved. I am so so lucky.

Day 18

Today I am SO thankful for Mommy's group, especially when it breaks up a daddy working M-F week!

Day 17

I am so thankful that my parents were able to come down for Charley's party and that they got home safely!!

Day 16

Today I am so thankful that we found such a great group of people here. Charley had a great birthday party and we are truly so blessed!

Day 15

Today I am thankful for my craftiness. I love having a hobby that I'm good at, and that I get an end result from.

Day 14

I am SO thankful that Keith is such a good "girl dad." He took Chatley to get ice cream as a special treat after the doctor because she hates it so much (rightfully so after the last few months!) and then had a tea party with her while I was cooking dinner. It's nice to know if twosie is a girl she'll have a great big sister and a great daddy to play with!

Day 13

Again, thankful for my job. It's not everywhere that you get free "just a little ugly" Panera cookies!

Day 12

Today I am thankful for my notebooks. I'm so glad I didn't switch over to electronic lists (well, except for grocery lists). I love being able to look back and se my to do lists, ideas, drawings, and notes about important life events. A few years ago I sketched out the layout of Charley's room, and made to do lists for my days I was off work but she wasn't here yet. It's an awesome feeling to be able to do that!

Day 11

Today I am thankful that (some days) I have the ability to move past short comings. Some days you can't do all the things, or be the best at this or that (or both), and I am so thankful that I can take that message to heart (usually).

Also I'm thankful that Keith did the laundry and the dishes today!

Day 10

Today I am thankful for the clutter. It means we have people who care enough to give things to Charley, we have the means to buy things for ourselves, and that we care more about playing and having fun than keeping it perfect looking.
